I moved to a town covered in orange carpet that glistened in the sunlight. “That’s the California poppy. It’s beautiful like gold, isn’t it?” Dad said, as he kept driving. “Oh yeah?” The scenery that quickly passed by the car window looked so different from Nagoya, where we used to live.
