Jade Hinds

Jade Hinds (she/her) is a fourth year Asian American Studies major at the University of California, Los Angeles. For Jade’s Asian American Studies 185 upper division course, “Capstone Community-Based Research,” she had the privilege of interning at the Japanese American National Museum. During her Fall 2021 academic quarter, she worked under the direction of Joy Yamaguchi, the Public Programs Supervisor. As a part of her work at JANM, Jade had the pleasure of contributing to the Discover Nikkei site by writing an article sharing her responses to the temporary exhibition, A Life in Pieces. Though Jade does not share ancestry to a concentration camp survivor nor is culturally tied to Japanese America, she does recognize and highly respect the importance of sharing family histories and preserving the culture of our communities.
