いやぁ、全然だめですね。だから(父は)50年間ブラジルに住んでまともなポルトガル語がしゃべれないで、死んでいきましたけど。結局私が5歳ですね。それでまぁ、言葉すぐ覚えるから、早速通訳をさせられてですね。もう6、7歳から通訳をさせられたわけで。 父はだからそのなんて言いますか、たわし工場を出てから、日本人のところを回って洋服の注文を取って、それで家の中でそれを縫ってですね、届けると。そうすると、生地を買ったり、付属品を買ったり、それからできたものを届けたりというようなことは、やるわけですが、結局その朝市に行ったってですね、日系人の人ばっかりだからですね、別にポルトガル語できなくたって食料品買うことはできるし。それから生地とか付属品とかはそういうものはポルトガル語しゃべらないといけないから、私を連れて行って通訳をさせたりとかですね。 サンパウロに住んでいるとやっぱり言葉を覚える必要がなかったということはありますね。
