サンパウロに住んでるうちにですね、私の父は1989年に亡くなって、母親は私の家族、弟の家族も自分のところに来て住まないかと言ったけど、母は私のところに来ることを選んで、我が家で生活を始めたと。そうすると、三男が1990年に生まれてますから、三男がおばあちゃん子で、一生懸命おばあちゃんが日本語で喋ってですね。それから上の二人も日本語で喋って。うちの母が子供達の日本語教育に貢献してくれたけど、夫婦の会話は常にポルトガル語ですよ。母親だけが日本語しか喋れないので、母親と私の子供達、母親と孫達、母親が日本語で話すのはわかってたんですかね。 冬になると東京大学に招かれて行くようになって。それはそれで悪いことじゃなかったのは、宿舎を与えられましたから、小さかった子供達を連れて日本に行って、母親も連れてって。したがって自分は、直接こういうれっきとした教育方針をもって、子供たちをある一定のモラルの元に日本語も教えてというようなことは、自分の教育方針としてはっきりと持っていたわけではないけども、しかし間接的にそういう風にして日本に連れて行ったり、日本文化に接するということはしましたね。
