 agasaki\, the Japanese American National Museum in partnership with the tw
 o cities presents &lt;em&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;Under a Mushroom Cloud: Hiroshima\, Nagasa
 ki\, and the Atomic Bomb&lt;/em&gt; on view November 9\, 2019 through June 7\, 2
 020.\n\nA uranium bomb devastated Hiroshima on August 6\, 1945\, and a plu
 tonium bomb exploded over Nagasaki on August 9\, the only cities to sustai
 n mass destruction. Beyond the many dead\, the survivors have endured phys
 ical and spiritual pain to this day. Japanese Americans then living in Hir
 oshima and Nagasaki who survived are a part of this vital story. In additi
 on to photographs\, explanatory texts\, and artifacts\, &lt;em&gt;Under a Mushr
 oom Cloud&lt;/em&gt; includes contemporary art that provides an array of perspe
 ctives on the effects of the atomic bombs and their impact today. The exhi
 bition sheds light on this painful history while creating a safe space for
  discussion with hopes that no person or country ever suffers from a reocc
