He was born in Seattle\, Washington and spent t wo years of his early childhood in Minidoka (Idaho)\, one of ten concentr ation camps for Japanese Americans during World War II. He has had over 1 35 solo exhibitions of paintings and prints\, and has presented his exper imental theatre pieces at such venues as the Franklin Furnace in New York City\, Walker Art Center in Minneapolis\, and The Smithsonian Institutio n in Washington\, DC. He is the recipient of more than 30 grants\, of whi ch four are National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships in Painting and Performance Art. Shimomura has taught at the University of Kansas\, where he was designated a University Distinguished Professor (1994)\, and Carl eton College. He is the recipient of awards from the College Art Associat ion\, Seattle Urban League\, Kansas Governor&rsquo\;s Office\, Asian Amer ican Arts Alliance\, University of Washington\, and\, in 2011\, was desig nated a United States Artist Fellow. Shimomura is the 2012-13 A/P/A Artis t-in-Residence.\n\n<strong><a href="http://www.nyu-apastudies.org/2012/wp- content/uploads/2012/08/Keiko-Wright.jpg"> </a> Keiko Wright</strong> is a Chicago-born filmmaker. In 2011\, she graduated from New York University &rsquo\;s Tisch School of the Arts where she received a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a concentration in film and television post-production. She has directed and produced several short-form documentaries. Her most recent film\, <em>HIRO &ndash\; A Story of Japanese Internment</em> \, is a 2012 Student Academy Award Winner.\n\n<strong><a href="http://www.nyu-apastudie s.org/2012/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/G.W.-Kimura.jpg"> </a> G. W. (Greg) Kimura</strong> \, Ph.D. is the Japanese American National Museum&rsquo\; s President and Chief Executive Officer and immediate past president and CEO of the Alaskan Humanities Forum (Alaska&rsquo\;s state humanities cou ncil).
