2025 San Fernando Valley Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Obon Festival

Community Event
In Person
San Fernando Valley Japanese American Community (SFVJACC)
12953 Branford Street Arleta, CA 91331

Date: June 28, 2025 – June 29, 2025

Time: 4:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The 2025 San Fernando Valley Hongwanji Buddhist Temple Obon Festival is a cherished summer tradition, bringing together thousands from across Southern California to celebrate with food, games, and cultural displays. Visitors can enjoy delicious ethnic favorites like kalua pork, sushi, and Spam musubi, try their luck at the $1,000 raffle and bingo, or browse the Japanese flea market for unique finds. The festival comes alive with dynamic taiko drumming and hundreds of dancers in kimono and happi coats moving to traditional and modern Japanese music, honoring the Buddhist "Festival of Joy." More than just an event, Obon is a time for friends, families, and the community to gather, reconnect, and celebrate together.
