The East Asian region is facing uncertain geopolitical dynamics due to territorial disputes in the South China Sea, China’s growing military footprint, and fears over North Korea’s nuclear capabilities. Given the current turbulent geopolitical climate, the importance of the U.S.-Japan alliance is at an all-time high. How should the United States and Japan cooperate to address these geopolitical challenges? In this program, speakers examine the current state of the geopolitical landscape in East Asia, the trajectory of U.S. leadership in the region, and the prospects for U.S.-Japan security cooperation.
