Obon Festival - Jikoen Hongwanji Buddhist Temple

Community Event
In Person
Jikoen Hongwanji Buddhist Temple
1731 N. School Street Hawaii, United States of America

Date: July 20, 2018 – July 21, 2018

Come to the Jikoen Hongwanji Buddhist Temple to celebrate their 2018 Obon Festival! Join the community for a weekend of celebration of Japanese culture, heritage, ancestry, and religion through food and dance!

Jikoen Hongwanji is unique in that it was started not to serve a particular area, but to serve the needs of the Okinawan people in Hawaii.  Their history is extensive, varied, and involves not only those in the Buddhist community, but also the Okinawan community both in Hawaii and in Okinawa. Founded in 1964, it continues its outreach to the community through services and cultural events to this day.
