Japan Foundation Los Angeles screens a Japanese film every second and fourth Wednesday in our auditorium room on Miracle Mile. On October 9 at 7pm, we will be showing "Tokyo Story" (1953).

SYNOPSIS:

A profoundly stirring evocation of elemental humanity and universal heartbreak, Tokyo Story is the crowning achievement of the unparalleled Yasujiro Ozu. An elderly couple leaves their small coastal village in southern Japan to visit their married children in Tokyo. Their eldest son is too busy to show them around town and their eldest daughter is occupied with her beauty salon. On the way back to their village, tragedy strikes. The callous inattention that son and daughter paid to their parents becomes unanswerable.
