Itajime shibori is an ancient Japanese tye-dying technique. In its purest form, fabric is folded in an accordion style and bound between two pieces of wood with string or clamps. Today, many shapes cut from acrylic and other materials are used to create an endless number of patterns that can be created using this technique.
Setsuko Hayashi will be leading students through the steps of itajime shibori to create patterns on silk pillows. The workshop will be on September 22nd starting at 1:00pm in the JCI Nisei Veterans Hall. $20.00 fee per person. To register for the workshop, please call the JCI office at (310) 324-6611, or email info@jci-gardena.org. Space is limited, so reserve your space early.
