"The Essence of Kimono is a stunning retrospective of antique Japanese textiles. On display will be very rare and exquisite pieces of wearable art which are part of a private collection that has never before been seen in public. The exhibit spans two hundred years of history including one of a kind, handmade kimono and obi from the Edo through Showa periods, highlighting the artistry and craftsmanship involved in creating an iconic, cultural symbol of Japan. Discover how the Japanese aesthetic has influenced artistic movements and fashion throughout the world. The breadth and diversity of women's, men's and children's kimono in the exhibit are unmatched and should not be missed by anyone interested in art, history, culture and design."
