The NEA National Heritage Fellowships Concert:

Friday, September 23, 2011, 8:00 - 10:00 pm EDT at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland.

Emceed by American Routes host Nick Spitzer, the concert celebrates the 2011 recipients of the NEA National Heritage Fellowship, the nation's highest honor in the folk & traditional arts. The 2011 recipients are quilter Laverne Brackens, percussionist Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro, Mardi Gras Indian Chief, Bo Dollis, folklorist Jim Griffith, taiko drum leaders Roy and PJ Hirabayashi, ukulele and slack key guitarist Ledward Kaapana, Baptist singer Frank Newsome,
Piedmont blues songster Warner Williams, and Bulgarian saxophonist Yuri Yunakov.
