"NIPPON" Rooted in Brazil - Japanese Culture Introduced and Developed by a Century of Japanese Immigrants - Period: October 20th (Tue) - December 20th (Sun), 2009 Venue: Overseas Migration and Cultural Exchange Center, 1st floor hall Free admission In 1908, the first immigrant ship, Kasato Maru, departed from Kobe Port for Brazil with immigrants on board. 100 years have passed since then, and Japanese people have overcome various hardships to put down roots in Brazil and are active in all fields. During this time, Japanese culture was introduced and nurtured in Brazil. There are things there that we today have forgotten. This photo exhibition gives a sense of the local situation in Brazil through nearly 100 photos.
