Coming from a diverse background which includes Classical music, R&B and J- Pop, Akemi Yamada (stage name“akemi”) found her voice in Jazz, and relocated to New York in 2003. Her warm and intimate interpretations of Bossa Nova and Jazz standards coupled with a sophisticated and instrumental approach to improvisation have earned her the reputation of being a “musician’s musician”, and her talent has been proved in her first album “With A Song In My Heart”, released in 2007. Akemi keeps evolving her style of jazz, by writing and arranging her own music, while pursuing active performances in the New York City.? In 2009, her remarkable jazz composition “My Journey(Ta Bi Ji)” portraying her journey of music and life was air-played in a radio show,”The Jazz Life”( 88.7FM) ,where she was interviewed live.
