SUMI-E MIDWEST EXHIBIT
HELLER NATURE CENTER

“Painting in the Asian Manner", an exhibit by members of Sumi-e Midwest, will open with a public reception at the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park on Sunday, April 9, from 2 to 4 pm. Featured artists include; Lynn Foster, Richard Kim, Idelle Groat, Maxine Gladstone, Barbara Irwin, Pamela Houcek, Ileane Tatar, and Kay Thomas

Sumi-e Midwest is a chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America. The national society was founded in 1963 by Professor Motoi Oi, and the Midwest Chapter was organized in l982. The purpose of both groups is to foster and encourage an appreciation of Oriental brush painting techniques and to serve as a cultural bridge between East and West.
