 nty Buddhist Church will observe Obon with services\, Odori (dancing)\, an
 d a bazaar-carnival at the annual Obon Festival during the weekend.&nbsp\;
  In Japan\, Obon evolved from the religious custom of honoring the decease
 d with memorial services.&nbsp\; During this time\, comparable holidays ar
 e observed throughout the Buddhist world.&nbsp\; A special English service
  will be held on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. with special guest speakers\, Rev. K
 odo Umezu\, Director of Jodo Shinshu Center and Rinban Nobuo Miyaji\, Fres
 no Buddhist Church.&nbsp\; Hatsubon Service will be held on Sunday at 1:30
  p.m. in memory of those that have passed away since our last Obon.&nbsp\;
 \n\nThe traditional Obon dance which expresses joy for the teachings offer
 ed by the Buddha will be performed on Saturday and Sunday\, from 7:00 to 8
 :30 p.m. with an intermission.&nbsp\; The movements depict the livelihood 
 of the villagers such as fishermen\, coal miners\, and farmers.&nbsp\; You
 r participation with the other temple dancers is greatly appreciated.&nbsp
 \;\n\nThe bazaar-carnival will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday 
 and from 2:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.&nbsp\; This event will feature many 
 games for the young and old.&nbsp\; This year's raffle will offer many pri
 zes\, including the grand prize\, 'Trip for two to Tokyo\, Japan' via Amer
 ica Airlines.&nbsp\; The drawing will be held on Sunday at 8:30 p.m..&nbsp
 \; Winners need not be present to win.&nbsp\; We will have handicrafts and
  farm fresh produce at bargain prices.&nbsp\; Delicious Asian dishes such 
 as beef and chicken teriyaki\, sushi\, udon (Japanese noodles)\, won ton\,
  chow mein\, corn\, teriburgers\, oriental chicken salad\, Okinawa Dango (
 donuts)\, Imagawa Yaki (Sweet bean dessert)\, oden\, soft drinks\, snow co
 nes and other treats will be available.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;\n\nThe Hondo (sanctu
 ary) will be open to any interested visitors and hosts from the Buddhist E
 ducation Center at the Orange County Buddhist Church will be available to 
 answer any questions.&nbsp\; Books on Buddhism will be sold at the entranc
 e of the Hondo.&nbsp\;\n\nGames and Prizes for the children
