Manzanar was the first of ten wartime camps established b y the U.S. government in 1942 to "relocate" and intern Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. The camp population exceeded 10\,000\, which mad e it the largest town in the Owens Valley during the war.\n\nThis photogra phic exhibit examines and illustrates what physically remains today of the traces of the people who were imprisoned.
