DESCRIPTION:Tohkon Judo Academy welcomes in the New Year at its annual Kaga
 mi-Biraki celebration on Saturday\, January 12\, 2008.  The festivities wi
 ll begin at 8 am with the traditional Mochi-Tsuki\, the pounding and shapi
 ng of sweet rice into mochi. Reverend Goro Oki will perform a traditional 
 Shinto purification service at noon\, followed by entertainment by the dru
 mmers of Kokyo Taiko and a demonstration by students of Tohkon Judo Academ
 y.  A potluck fellowship luncheon concludes the event.\n\nTohkon Judo Acad
 emy's Kagami-Biraki will be held at the Japanese American Service Committe
 e\, 4427 N. Clark Street\, Chicago.
