Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki
On the 65th Anniversary of the Bombing
An Interfaith Service Under 2500 Peace Cranes

Under a canopy of 2,500 origami peace cranes in the historic sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Long Beach, there will be an interfaith service of remembrance and recognition of the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on Thursday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m.

The church is located at 241 Cedar Avenue, Long Beach.

Special music, the lighting of candles, meditations and prayers will be offered. Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Unitarian, Christian and Jewish leaders will speak about why remembering that bombing is important in their respective religious traditions.

"This is a time to remember the bombings of these two cities and the tragic loss of over 200,000 innocent lives ... a time of thoughtful reflection on why we must not forget and recommit to work to eliminate these weapons that threaten the existence of life on our planet,"said church member Dr. Robert Kalayjian.
