Proud to be Japanese Americans
Not in my family, there was never any shame. No actually, I’m just proud of my heritage. I didn’t like what American does to people who were not—I mean, there were Germans, there were the enemies, the Italians, but they were not rounded up in the same way. I was someone who never, ever wavered from being proud of being Japanese. It was instilled in me very early on to challenge things that are not right, even if it’s the government.
