Learning Japanese to speak to relatives in Japan

At the time I dreaded going, I thought oh why am I learning this language but then when I got to be older my first trip to Japan was 1972, and that's when I thought oh I’m so glad I learned Japanese because all they speak is Japanese, and to converse with your relatives it’s all Japanese and you don't wanna use slang all the time, so you have to use proper Japanese.
